A Message from Universal CEO Randy Lennox
We are delighted to be involved with PhemPhat and believe very strongly in what they are doing for the community. This is an exciting time in Urban music and Universal is going to do what we can to help this great initiative along.
The Honey Jam has built a reputation for featuring amazing talent in the urban music industry. Renowned Canadian singer Jully Black performed at the 1996 Honey Jam.
We at Universal Music Canada are also thrilled to announce the signing of Jully Black to a worldwide joint venture deal between Universal Music Canada and US label MCA Records
Jully is Canada's "First Lady of Soul". We are extremely excited about our new adventure with Jully. She's a world-class artist.
Upon signing her deal, Jully commented: "This venture with Universal Canada and MCA will provide an opportunity for me to share my music and to express myself in a language known to all and loved by many. I'm excited about this new relationship."
Jully is currently in the studio, writing and recording for her highly anticipated debut album.
PhemPhat Productions has gained national recognition for its work supporting, educating and promoting women in all aspects of the urban music industry and Universal Music congratulates all those involved with this year's event.
Best Regards,
Randy Lennox
President, Universal Music Canada
